1. Overview

The Telstra Managed Firewall service provides a vital layer of protection between your private network(s) and the public Internet. The service will protect your networks, servers, data and business.

As a fully managed service, Telstra is responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the Firewall hardware and software. The service includes the creation of a tailored Firewall Policy, 24x7 hardware monitoring, trouble-shooting and comprehensive support.

2. Service Options

The Telstra Managed Firewall service comprises a range of firewall options tailored to your performance, service level and price requirements. The firewall can be located either at your premises to protect your Local Area Network, or within a data centre to protect a remotely hosted solution(s). All that is required is internet connectivity, provided either through Telstra, or another provider.

  • Cisco ASA Firewalls
    The Telstra Managed Cisco ASA Firewall Service is ideal for customers who need a heterogeneous firewall solution. The technology offers intelligent threat defence and maximum network resilience with choices suitable for both large and smaller organisations.

3. Telstra Managed Firewall Service Features

All of the Telstra Managed Firewall Service offerings provide a customisable Firewall Policy. The Firewall Policy can be configured to accept or deny specific connections as required. Where you are unable to provide specific requirements, a Telstra security expert will help you to determine the most appropriate Firewall Policy. Customers are allowed an unlimited number of Firewall Policy changes.

  • Service Installation
    Telstra manages all aspects of the installation of the service, maintaining control of the Firewall to maximise integration into the Telstra infrastructure and to maintain the quality of the service.
  • Firewall Provisioning and Maintenance
    When the Telstra Managed Firewall is located on your premises, Telstra will send a pre-configured Firewall to you, together with simple instructions for installation. Any updates and upgrades to the software of the Firewall will be installed proactively during the entire term of the service agreement.
  • 24x7 Monitoring and Trouble Shooting
    Telstra will monitor the Firewall and will perform trouble shooting on a 24x7 basis.
  • Security Log File Reporting
    The Telstra Managed Firewall Service will log traffic, as defined in your Firewall Policy.
  • Configuration Backup & Recovery
    As part of the on-going management process Telstra will routinely backup the configuration data of the Firewall to ensure it can be recovered quickly in the unlikely event of a failure.
  • 24x7 Customer Service
    Telstra’s EMEA Customer Service Centre (ECSC) can be contacted day or night via phone, email or through the Telstra Hub. In the interests of security, service requests are only accepted from nominated individuals.

4. Customer Responsibilities

To help Telstra provide you with the best service, we ask you to help us by:

  • Designating a technical representative and support contact
  • Maintaining a suitable environment for operating the firewall, if it is to be installed on your own premises.
  • Performing simple tasks under the remote direction of a Telstra technician.
  • Letting us know as soon as possible if you are carrying out any maintenance or have suffered any outages caused by failure of any of your equipment.
