The four-day PTC event is noted as one of the top forums for industry executives from all aspects of the telecom, information technology, multimedia and broadcast fields to meet in order to collaborate and generate new opportunities.
This year, Telstra International’s Americas, EMEA and Asia Pac regions sent a contingent of 13 people from Product, Sales and Senior Management areas of the business. The driven team covered off more than 85 meetings with over 60 carriers and customers with a proactive and aggressive sales approach, strengthening relationships and uncovering new opportunities.
While the PTC theme this year was ‘Embracing the Cloud: Enabling Connectivity and Innovation’, most of the buzz around the conference revolved around the impact of mobile broadband and distribution of content on the Global Submarine Cable Infrastructure. From Guam to China, Facebook, YouTube and Apple, through its iPhone application, are compelling international carriers to build out and support new capacity throughout the Asia Pacific region and to rethink their business models. With the largest shareholding in the Asia America Gateway (AAG) and its investment in the developing South East Asia market, Telstra is very well positioned to support this growth and has already made inroads in doing so.
