Telstra rallies peers around fresh thinking theme at leading Asian Conference

Sponsorship creates opportunity to deliver message to over 600 delegates

8th September witnessed the grand opening of the 5th Asian Carriers Conference 2009 at the idyllic Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa on the island province of Cebu in the Philippines.  With over 600 delegates in attendance, Telstra International was delighted to commit its Managing Director Drew Kelton as distinguished panellist and guest speaker, directed at energising debate around the need for new partnering paradigms for sustainable growth.  An official media partner report contained coverage of key points made by Drew remarking that he was “one of best ad-libbers on the telecom conference circuit.”

Telstra was excited to have had the opportunity to stage this core theme by taking part in the accompanying event exhibition programme, kick starting proceedings by being the exclusive sponsor of the pre event ACC 2009 Golf Tournament attracting more than 50 players, some of which were lucky enough to claim their share of us$5,000 worth of prizes on offer.  Additionally, due to the golf tournament timing, the business did what was only natural and extended a warm welcome to guests and friends the night before at a Champagne VIP Cocktail Reception, held at the Shangri-La’s breathtaking Ocean Pavilion facility.

Top executives and senior management from more than 44 countries attended the Asian Carriers Conference this year, refreshing business partnerships and in many cases concluding new agreements.  The Telstra International Asia delegation exceeded expectations by holding an unprecedented 43 bilateral meetings with customers, partners and future collaborators, discussing insights, experiences and technology breakthroughs in markets throughout Asia and beyond. “The reaction to our involvement this year has been very encouraging”, said Greg Russell, SVP for Telstra International, Asia, “and we look forward to assessing the case for taking part again next year.”

Drew Kelton and the team at Telstra International wishes to sincerely thank all those that attended the conference and created the time for meetings.  Special thanks are also given to the event organisers for an outstanding performance and for making an already successful event bigger and better than before; who knows what the 2010 instalment will hold.
