Greg Russell, Senior Vice President, Asia
Greg is the Senior Vice President of Telstra International, Asia, based in Singapore. A veteran with 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, he is responsible for driving strategy, sales, marketing and business development for Telstra International across the region. Since he joined the company in 2007, Greg has implemented several notable initiatives to expand Telstra International’s geographic coverage, strengthen its portfolio as well as make significant investments in people to support Telstra International’s fastest growing region in the world.
Prior to joining Telstra International, Greg was General Manager of Sales for BT Global Services in Southeast Asia. In the role, Greg transformed the BT sales force from a primarily B-end support team to an enterprise sales force, and grew sales by three-fold year-on-year within two years. Greg also developed the regional go-to-market strategy, and collaborated with colleagues across Asia and Europe.
Before joining BT Global Services, Greg spent ten years at WorldCom International, where he had managerial roles in Hong Kong, Singapore, Netherlands and London.
Greg is married with three children and his hobbies include participating in triathlons across the region.
Timothy Murphy, Vice President of Technology Services, Asia
As general Manager of I.T. Services, Tim heads Telstra International's I.T. services and outsourcing business in Asia. Tim has worked in the information technology industry for more than 25 years, and has held senior roles in Australia, Europe and Asia. He has been based in Hong Kong since 2000 and has been with Telstra since 2002. In his current role, Tim manages about 90 Telstra staff supporting mission-critical I.T. operations for a range of multi-national and regional clients.
Prior to joining Telstra, Tim was head of technology services for Vision Century, a company developing I.T. businesses in China, and providing outsourced data centre and networking services in Hong Kong and the mainland. Before coming to Hong Kong, Tim was with IBM Global Services in Sydney, managing business operations within IBM's Australian and New Zealand Strategic Outsourcing division.
Previously Tim spent 10 years with Amdahl, a division of Fujitsu, in various sales and customer services roles in Sydney, then as Marketing Operations Manager for Southern Europe, based in Paris.
Rex Engelking, Vice President, Strategic Accounts, Asia
Rex has over 15 years experience in international telecommunications the US and Asia Pacific including sales, operations and business development roles across several technologies and products from call centers, undersea cables, satellite services and both TDM and IP voice carriage products and platforms.
Rex’s telecommunication career began with MCI, the 2nd largest telecommunications company in the US, managing call center teams supporting off-shore international markets through calling card and IDD services. He later went on to manage US domestic and international switching operations that expanded to Hong Kong as one of the early ETS operators and wholesale providers after market deregulation. He continues to be active as a board member within the ETS society in Hong Kong.
His operational experience includes installation and management of large international gateway switching platforms, procurement and management of undersea cable systems, satellite ground stations, and IP based data networks in the Asia Pacific region.
His business development experience includes work with back office billing and reporting systems linking converging technologies, conferencing platforms and complex voice and data solutions.
Rex currently develops Telstra off-shore data and voice solutions in emerging markets in Asia Pacific. He holds a B.A. in International Relations from Brigham Young University in the United States.
Jason Bowers, Sales Director, Greater China
As Sales Director for North East Asia, Jason Bowers is responsible for sales across North East Asia, managing a team of sales and technical professionals in Hong Kong and China. Jason is based in Telstra International’s Asian headquarters in Hong Kong,
Jason Bowers joined Telstra International, in 2008. He has been involved in the Telecommunications industry, for 14 years. Prior to joining Telstra International, Jason worked for Polycom, as Regional Sales Director for ASEAN, British Telecom and MCI Worldcom (now Verizon) as Sales Manager (conferencing) for mainland Europe. Jason has experience from a strategic partners point of view as well as the manufacturer, since in his former roles, he was responsible for CPE as well as managed services revenue. Jason spent 8 years as an officer in HM Royal Navy.
Jason has a Bsc in Hydrographic surveying. His hobbies include competitive sailing and rugby union.
Yu Kawasetsu, Sales Director, Japan and Korea
As Sales Director, Yu Kawasetsu directs sales strategy and business development for retail and wholesale sales in North East Asia. He joined Telstra in December 2004 and has been driving Telstra's sales growth with Japanese MNC and foreign based financial customers as well as wholesale customers.
With more than 9 years experience, Yu has held a number of corporate sales roles in the telecommunications industry, including Business Manager for PCCW Communications Japan K.K.
Yu likes to travel overseas and learn foreign languages, such as German, Spanish and Chinese.
Allan Griffin, Vice President, Wholesale Sales, ASEAN
Allan Griffin has had more than 30 years experience working within the ICT industry; in Asia, Australia and globally. Based in Singapore, Allan was instrumental in the establishment of the Telstra business in South Asia; from the inception of the new global business model in 2002.
Currently Allan is a Director of Telstra Singapore and VP Carrier and Service Provider Business. Through direct and channel sales engagement; Allan and his team, continue to successfully expand Telstra’s business in south Asia with tier one telcos and other key service providers.
Prior to joining Telstra, Allan was employed in Singapore by Global Crossing, Asia Global Crossing and a company acquired by Global Crossing, IXnet; where he held the position of General Manager.
Allan has spent a large part of his career providing ICT services to Australian and Asian financial institutions; and has previously worked in senior management positions in Syscorp Investment Systems, Trade Wind Group and in his early career, various roles in Telecom Australia.
Allan first began working in Singapore in the early 1990s; and is a Singapore Permanent Resident. Allan is married with three children; two of whom currently study in Singapore.
Harinder (Harry) Singh, Vice President – Enterprise Sales SE Asia
As Vice President of Enterprise Sales, Harry Singh directs sales strategy and business development for all Retail Enterprise sales in SE Asia.
He is responsible for driving double digit sales growth into strategic markets and for maximizing the potential of Telstra International’s unrivalled capability in Asia.
With more than 17 years experience, Harry has held a number of senior sales and marketing roles in the telecommunications industry across the world.
Prior to Joining Telstra International, Harry spent 9 years at Verizonbusiness (formerly MCI) where he held a number of key senior roles in Europe and latterly in Asia. Harry was Regional Director of Business Development for Verizonbusiness Asia. Prior to that, Harry was Director of Specialized Sales & Services Asia and was responsible for the creation and development of Verizon's solutions sales group. Before his arrival in Singapore, Harry was Director-Global Accounts Benelux for MCI, where he lead MCI's largest ever global outsource deal with a European based global Bank.
Harry has an excellent track record in general management, sales management and outsourcing/solutions sales to the Fortune 500 companies. He has an MBA from Cranfield, a BSc (Hons) in Economics & Corporate Finance and is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing, Institute of Management and Association of MBA's.
He is an avid scuba diver and enjoys travelling around the region in pursuit of his hobby.
Michelle Hsu, Operations Director, Asia
Michelle heads up Telstra International Asia Customer Service team. She is responsible for service provisioning and service management for all Asia customers. Michelle has over 10 years experience in customer service and more than 6 years with Telstra. She has significant experience in Sales Consultation, Telecommunication, Project Management, Customer Service, and Operations.
Ram Chockalingam, Finance Director, Asia
Ramasamy Chockalingham (Chock) is Finance Director for Telstra International operations in Asia in-charge of finance and accounting functions including audit, tax, compliance and regulation, treasury and HR matters of the Telstra entities in the Asia region.
Chock is a member of senior management in Telstra Asia and has over eighteen years of experience in building, leading and advising Corporations, restructuring, international expansion. He is qualified as a Chartered Accountant (FCA) from The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. In addition, have a degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Previously, Chock spent six years in the United Kingdom and qualified as an Auditor followed by two years in Price Waterhouse in Singapore. This was preceded by two years as Regional Financial Controller, Asia Pacific Region, for a Switzerland based MNC with core business in duty free operations across the world.
